Questions About Walk-and-Talk Therapy
Starting therapy often comes with questions. Here are answers to some of the most common ones. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Walk-and-talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy where therapist and client meet outdoors while walking together rather than sitting in a traditional office. Many people find that walking side by side in nature feels more comfortable, less intimidating, and encourages open conversation.
Research has shown that regular movement and time spent outdoors may support emotional well-being, reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function. Walk-and-talk therapy combines these benefits with evidence-based counseling.

Sessions take place at carefully selected outdoor locations throughout Chicago's North Shore, including areas such as Skokie Lagoons, Gillson Park, Harms Woods, the North Branch Trail, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and other quiet walking paths.
Together, we'll choose a location that best fits your comfort level, privacy preferences, and therapeutic goals.

Your comfort and safety always come first.
If weather conditions make an outdoor session impractical, we'll discuss alternative arrangements, such as meeting virtually, walking indoors at places such as the Northbrook Court Mall, or rescheduling when appropriate.
Flexibility helps ensure that therapy remains consistent throughout the year.

Walking paths are carefully selected to balance the presence of others with the necessity of privacy. We also will only walk during the day.

Your privacy is extremely important. While meeting outdoors presents unique considerations, I take thoughtful steps to choose quieter locations and protect confidentiality throughout each session.
At your first appointment, we'll discuss how outdoor therapy works and any privacy considerations before beginning treatment.

I primarily specialize in walk-and-talk therapy because it brings together evidence-based therapy, movement, and time outdoors in a supportive setting.
Alternative arrangements may be available when outdoor sessions are not appropriate due to weather or other circumstances.

I am a private-pay therapist and do not bill insurance directly.
Choosing private-pay therapy allows treatment to remain focused on your individual needs rather than insurance requirements or limitations. If you have out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided upon request for possible reimbursement through your insurance plan.
Many clients successfully use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.

Individual therapy sessions are $150 for a 50-minute session.

I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer your questions, discuss your goals, and help determine whether walk-and-talk therapy is the right fit for you—without any obligation to schedule a session.
